Legislation places all employers under a general duty to have a health and safety policy and it needs to be a comprehensive statement of the way in which health and safety is implemented in the organisation. A compliant policy should contain a statement of intent, an outline of the organisation with allocated duties, roles and responsibilities and details of the arrangements and procedures that are in place to ensure compliance with the legislation and regulations. If the organisation has five or more employees there is also a requirement for this health and safety policy to be in writing.
Our consultant will discuss with you on how your business is structured, your activities, key responsibilities and essential personnel before quickly and efficiently drafting your tailored comprehensive health and safety policy.
Alongside this main policy, other more specific policies will help your organisation to be clear on how it tackles the issue of health and safety. Manual handling, lone working and working at height are just a few of the policies that GM Consulting can produce for you.Read more on our fact sheet

A safe system of work is a formal procedure designed to eliminate or control hazards. It will include the physical layout of the job, the sequence of operations, the provision of tools and equipment and the communication of relevant notices, warnings and any special instructions.
These written systems are needed whenever hazards cannot be physically eliminated and a significant element of risk remains. It is a set of written procedures that must be followed to prevent accidents or serious incidents and is particularly important when introducing new activities or equipment into the workplace. All such systems should be developed by competent persons and this is where GM Consulting can help, working as part of your team we will develop safe methods of operation and to share the responsibility for the implementation of new safe systems along with appropriate monitoring activities and review.Read more on our fact sheet
